What is CAUT?

The Committee for the Advancement of University Teaching (CAUT) is an initiative of the Australian Federal Government's Department of Employment, Education and Training. In a revamp with a new government and government minister it has now been replaced by CUTSD; the Committee for University Teaching and Staff Development.

CAUT aims to promote quality initiatives in tertiary-level teaching within Australia. One of the major CAUT programs is the National Teaching Development Grants program which aims to:

"improve the quality of teaching by supporting teaching development projects which lead to practical improvements in teaching, learning and assessment. The grants are awarded annually on a competitive basis, and in 1994, a total of $4.2 million was awarded across 117 projects."
